January: for us always a month of reflecting, of experimenting, exploring, creating and going a little bit wild. This year also of deep grief, fear, compassion and questioning. Sending love to our dear friends who give us hope and joy and make us laugh until we’re breathless. Ready now to make 2020 a year of action and change in all sorts of ways. Starting tomorrow. Tomorrow friends, I start to reply to January’s emails ✉️
You know what’s great? Singing songs with friends, playing gigs for a good cause and finishing any show with a bush dance 💃 Thank you so much for a fantastic show @ohpepmusic @jjflanagan @spottedmallard and the all the amazing people who helped put this show together and or came along on Thursday night! 💛
People are great. Music is great. Communities are incredibly powerful. So the fire benefit show this Tuesday with @jordielanemusic and @lizstringeraus and friends has SOLD OUT! Thanks legends, can’t wait, see you there! BUT there is another fab fire benefit show on Wednesday Jan 23rd at @spottedmallard with two of the best bands in Melbourne (in our humble biased opinions) @ohpepmusic and @jjflanagan and a BUSH DANCE 😍 This show is raising money for @rebuild_upper_murray one of the many communities who have a long way to go ahead of them in the wake of these fires. The world is strange and smoky and confusing this week. This weekend we fly to Tassie for @cygnet_folk_festival with this legend @moniqueclaremusic. Feels like the whole world is changing, dramatically and incomprehensibly. There’s so much that is hard to make sense of at the moment but we are so looking forward to hugging our friends, singing some songs and taking refuge in good people and great music! See you there friends 💛
We’ve been quiet on here recently, shocked and devastated by the bushfire crisis happening all around us and unsure of what we can add to the conversation other than our love to those affected and our sadness. (Also rage and disbelief and terror and wanting to storm Parliament House and shake our whole government until they wake up). Our friends/fave musicians @jordielanemusic @clareislollies @lizstringeraus are putting on this show to raise money for the @cfavic @nswrfs and @wildlifevictoria and we are playing and so are a bunch of other great musicians @lang7130 @codachroma @kylieauldist Let’s gather together in this time of crisis, sing songs, share our thoughts and fears and let’s send something much more practical than hopes and prayers to our fire-affected communities.
